Tradepoint Atlantic

Installation of a Large-scale Bulk Material Handling System

North American Millwright Services played a key role in installing a large-scale Bulk Material Handling System at Tradepoint Atlantic. The project included approximately 1,300 linear feet of conveyor systems, a nearly 70-foot transfer tower, and a high-capacity truck loading station. Designed to serve industries including concrete manufacturing, construction materials, and highway infrastructure, the system streamlines the transfer of bulk materials from vessels to trucks, allowing 50-ton dump trucks to be loaded in moments.

Challenge

A project of this size and complexity presented ongoing field challenges throughout construction. The scale of the foundations, the elevation of the conveying structures, and the coordination required between multiple stakeholders created logistical and installation hurdles that needed to be addressed in real time. Maintaining steady progress while adapting to evolving field conditions was critical to the project’s success.

Solution

North American Millwright Services served as a strong asset in both foundation installation and mechanical system erection. Our team worked closely with the general contractor, owner, suppliers, and project stakeholders to identify challenges, develop effective solutions, and maintain momentum on the installation of the Material Handling System. Built as a “Buy America / Buy American” project, the system incorporates American-made materials, including nearly 500 yards of concrete, extensive rebar placement, and over one million pounds of domestic steel. Through skilled execution and collaboration, NAMS helped bring new life to a nearly forgotten historic industrial site in Maryland. The structures being built have generated countless jobs for American workers while delivering a landmark system on the Potomac River that will support local manufacturing industries for years to come.
